The application deadlines are the dates by which we must receive your complete application, including all documents and references. This means that you must upload your application before the deadline to give your referees time to submit their references by the deadline date. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Please use the application checklist to ensure you complete your application correctly.

Choose the application round that suits you best. However, applying early has advantages. For international students, these include providing the time you need to arrange for international study permits and immigration documents, as well as arranging your move to Canada. For all students, applying early makes it easier to plan your move to Vancouver (if applicable), notify your employer, prepare your finances and make other arrangements.

Application Process and Recommendations

There are benefits to applying early: you’ll have more time to ensure your application is complete by the deadline, more time to apply for and receive your study permit if it’s required, and, finally, more time to organize your relocation to Vancouver. Apply early and skip the stress!

Can I apply?

Make sure you are eligible to apply before starting your application. Still not sure if you’re eligible? Answer a few quick questions to determine if you are eligible to apply.

What do I need to apply?

To make sure you have everything you need, review the Application Checklist and gather your supporting documents, such as your letter of intent, resume, and transcripts.

How do I apply?

Watch the quick How to Apply Guide to become familiar with the simple five-stage application process and requirements.

Click Apply Now to begin your online application. If you have never applied to UBC before, you’ll be directed to create a Campus Wide Login (CWL) account first.

You can save your application at any point in the process, and sign in again to continue working on it later

Upload all supporting documents as prompted by MyApplication. This will include your letter of intent, resume, transcripts, English language proficiency results (if applicable) and citizenship documents.

Whenever possible, use your referees’ institutional or business email addresses. Referees with free web-based email providers, such as Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo, cannot access the online application portal and must submit their reference via postal mail. This may cause delays with your application.

Not sure who to choose as your referees? Watch this brief video to determine who you should ask.

If you need to make any changes to your application, watch this helpful video, which will guide you through the necessary steps.

How do I submit my application?

Click submit and pay your non-refundable application fee. This is C$110.00 for domestic applicants and C$168.25 for international applicants.

You are welcome to apply to more than one specialization or program. However, you will have to prepare a unique application for each specialization and pay the application fee again. You may submit your application once per calendar year, per program.

What should I do after after submitting my application?

Add apscpp@apsc.ubc.ca to your contact list or safe senders list to make sure that important notifications do not end up in your junk email, and check your email folders daily. All applicants must complete a video interview and may be asked to complete other tests. You will receive emails with information about these important application steps from apscpp@apsc.ubc.ca.

Your referees will be automatically emailed within 24 hours once you have submitted your application and paid your non-refundable application fee. Make sure to check MyApplication to see if your three referees have submitted their references. All three references must be received by the application deadline.

Need to change a referee? You can do this on MyApplication under Reference Details.

Prepare for the video interview. Your application package will summarize your technical or clinical leadership experience and skills. Your video interview is an opportunity for the admissions committee to better understand your professional experience, capacity for leadership and suitability for the program. Interviews are a common practice for professional programs like the UBC MEL and MHLP degrees.

Once your application has been completed, you will receive an email request to complete a video interview. Be sure to complete the video interview by the deadline indicated in your email invitation to ensure your application can be reviewed.

Your email invitation will include specific instructions and will help you reflect on your experiences ahead of the interview

When will I hear back?

You will be notified by email approximately five weeks weeks after the application deadline to learn whether or not you have been admitted.

See the application deadlines to find out the date for your admission decision based on when you applied.

Get ready for your next steps

Watch your email inbox. As a newly admitted student, we will send you a series of emails that takes you through everything you need to know – from course registration, to relocating, to preparing for your first day of classes.

Admitted students will be invited to a series of three webinars where you will have a chance to ask your questions, get introduced to the MEL and MHLP team, and meet your future classmates.
